About Outset

We built the studio we couldn't find.

What started as one small room in South Wimbledon is now a national home for podcasts, video, and everything creators make in between.

Our story

It began with a podcast we never made.

In 2017, Michael and Maz went looking for somewhere to record a video podcast. Nothing fit. The audio studios sounded great and fell flat the moment a camera switched on. The film and television stages were built for something far bigger. There was nothing in the middle, so they built it.

The first Outset was a 200-square-foot room in South Wimbledon. Hand-built acoustic panels, DIY shelving, and whatever kit they already owned. The plan was simple: record their own show, then hire the space out to cover the rent.

The demand grew so fast we never launched the podcast. The studio became the business.

Podcasting is still at the heart of what we do. Over time it became clear that creators needed more than a microphone and a room, so Outset grew into a full content space for live streams, branded shows, talking-head content, webinars, and broadcast production. Today that means podcast studios in London and Manchester, with a growing set of London studios alongside our Manchester home.

How we work

Broadcast quality, without the broadcast hassle.

Four-camera setups

Every studio runs four cameras, so your content feels dynamic and natural on screen.

Live switching

Leave with an edit-ready episode on the day, plus clean ISO recordings from every camera for full control later.

Studios that adapt

Lighting, sets, and furniture move to suit your show. Returning productions keep their sets stored with us between recordings.

The kit

A fleet of Sony cameras

Our FX30s carry most sessions with reliable eye-tracking autofocus. The FR7s live in the London Bridge production booth, controlled remotely so a recording is never interrupted.
